Poolscapes: More Than Just the Pool Deck

In just a few short months pool season will be here! A pool can be so much more than just a place to swim, it can be the basis of a gorgeous backyard retreat. If your poolscape leaves a lot to be desired or you are installing a new pool in your backyard, consider all of the options available to make your pool area the ultimate spot to spend your summer days and nights. Upgraded Pool Deck Pool decks are made of slip-resistant and non-abrasive material. While a simple, poured concrete checks all of the boxes, there are many other pool deck options that are more aesthetically pleasing. Concrete can be stamped, colored, or stenciled for a decorative look, while pavers, brick, or travertine offer a unique look for your pool deck. Patio Going beyond pool chairs, you can extend your pool deck to include a patio area. Here you can add a table and chairs or a comfortable seating area with a great view of the pool. Plan for some shade in this area for the extra-hot summer days; a pergola, gazebo, or trellis with climbing plants, make for great shade solutions. Seat Walls Built-in seat walls are essential for summer pool parties. They provide overflow seating for guests with a flat surface for them to place food and drinks. They blend in seamlessly with your pool hardscape and are easy to clean and maintain.

Fountains and Waterfalls Fountains and waterfalls are a great complement to a poolscapes. They can flow directly into the pool or be placed poolside. Fountains and waterfalls create a soothing background noise and provide a beautiful backdrop for your poolscapes. Pathways An often overlooked part of a poolscapes are the pathways that lead to your pool. Whether you prefer natural steppingstones, tidy pavers, or a gravel path, a pathway directs friends and family members to the pool, house, and other parts of your yard. Pathways can be simple or elaborate with patterns, borders and lighting. Greenery While most of the pool area is a hardscape, adding plants and flowers makes your pool area more welcoming. Tall trees and shrubs can provide privacy and some shade, although its recommended to avoid trees that will drop a lot of leaves in the fall. Colorful plants and flowers are also great choices to provide visual interest to the poolscapes. Dreamscape Designers loves to create poolscapes for our clients.
